Soilless cultivation tips for cucumber planting

Most cucumbers are planted in the traditional ground planting mode. With the development of modern facility agriculture in smart glass greenhouses, more and more growers use rock wool or coconut as a planting carrier

一. Advantages of rock wool as a planting carrier

Rock wool is made from ore that has been melted at a high temperature of one or two thousand degrees. It is sterile, non-toxic, and has stable chemical properties. In addition, rock wool blocks have good water absorption and drainage, and do not have any nutrients, making them very suitable for planting.

二. Requirements for cucumber planting environment

The normal growth range of temperature is 18~25 degrees. It should not exceed 25 degrees during the day and should not be lower than 18 degrees Celsius at night.

Cucumbers are light-loving crops. If it is rainy for a long time, you can turn on the supplementary light of the smart glass greenhouse for supplementary light.

The normal humidity for cucumber growth is between 80~85. Too high humidity can easily cause gray mold. The humidity can be reduced by heating or opening vents for ventilation.

The carbon dioxide concentration in the cucumber growth environment is between 750 and 850ul. If the concentration is too low during the day, ventilation can be used, or a carbon dioxide generator can be used for fertilization.

The reference value of water and fertilizer used in rock wool blocks, EC should be adjusted to 2.5-3.0mS/cm, and the PH of nutrition should be controlled at 5.5-6.0, which is conducive to plant growth and development.
